Luis Vasić, 19 years old, from Bonn, Germany, studying fashion design
at IFA Paris.
How does your personal background show up in your designs?
My work reflects my interests — the ones I have now, but also the ones I grew up with.
My parents put me onto rap and sports when I was a kid, and that still shapes how I see
the world and how I design today.
What originally inspired the pieces we shot together?
Everything in this collection is rooted in skateboarding, basketball, or rap culture. Even
the cargo shorts pull from traditional Western garments. I like mixing multiple references
because it diversifies the work and gives it more perspective and depth.
Who influences you — designers, artists, or subcultures?
Honestly, I only got into fashion because I started skateboarding. I wanted to rep the
brands and skaters I loved, and eventually I wanted to make the clothes I really wanted
to wear. I’m not from a fashion background, so what I create always starts with my
personal interests. There are designers I admire, but only I can make the clothes that
feel true to me.
What challenges do you face as a young designer?
There’s a lot people don’t see, the hours of work that go into each garment, the phases
where I’m unmotivated, or moments where inspiration is missing. I’m a perfectionist too,
which can be both stressful and rewarding. It pushes me, but it also slows me down.
How do you want people to feel when they wear your clothes?
Swag.
What message do you think the world needs right now — and how does your
work speak to that?
Peace, love, and originality.
What change do you hope your generation brings to the fashion industry?
New perspectives, new ideas, and a more sustainable approach.
